Fifteen years ago, the makings of an idea flourished in what was the first lantern procession held in Brinnington. There were about 30 or 40 people in total bringing the parade around the estate. 2012 saw the biggest procession going around the estate.
2013 aims to be bigger still.
There are many ways in which you can get involved with this years lantern procession, from making the lanterns, to being stewards and reaping the rewards of a night well spent.
If you’re interested in being a steward or want to contribute to the procession in any way, or want information about the event, please contact Mary Dutton (07701018332) who is also available on facebook too.

Various companies have been approaching older people in Stockport, about
council tax over payments. Not all companies who contact people are acting
illegally, however re banding of council tax is not a service people need
to pay for.
Last Monday someone was arrested because of a scam relating to this.
Please make all older people you know or visit aware that the council can
reassess banding free of charge, this is not a service someone has to pay
for they simply need to contact the council on 0161 217 6014 and ask for it
to be checked.
The council do not cold call about this.
